What Are Your Rights After a Construction Accident?
Despite state and federal safety regulations, construction site accidents continue to injure and kill construction workers and others who venture on or near construction sites.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more workers died in construction accidents in 2008 than in any other type of workplace accident. That year, 969 construction workers lost their lives in fatal workplace accidents. Many more suffered serious, but non-fatal injuries in construction-related accidents.

A Tragic Case of Negligence
Ms. Ferris successfully represented the survivors of a construction worker who fell four stories to his death while working on the roof of the IRS building on Highway 80 near Sacramento. Ironworkers cut holes in the corrugated roofing material for a vent shaft, then replaced the cut-out material so that the roof appeared intact. They failed to post any warnings. When our client stepped onto the cut-out roofing section, it gave way — with tragic results.
Construction accidents can be legally complicated. A workers' legal rights and options depend to a great deal on who caused the accident. Workers cannot sue their employers for damages. They can, however, sue other subcontractors and, in some cases, the general contractor.
